AAA Booking data indicates that international travel has increased more than 200% year-on-year compared to 2022; hotel bookings experienced the greatest spike, increasing over 300% since last year; as demand skyrockets, airfare prices for international trips are increasing by more than 30% year on year.
“Travelers are making up for lost time by expanding their travel adventures and spending more to see more,” stated Paula Twidale, Senior Vice President of Travel at AAA.
“Do your research and consult travel experts; there are deals out there waiting for you. However, giving yourself plenty of time is key.”
Europe and Canada remain AAA’s two top international destinations.
London tops the list, experiencing an impressive 300% jump year-on-year. Rome, Paris, Dublin and Barcelona also remain popular European tourist spots.
Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary are among the most beloved Canadian tourist spots.
“Traveling abroad can be exciting; personally, I recently renewed my passport for an upcoming trip to visit family in England,” Twidale commented. “International travel has created both excitement and questions this year regarding passports and travel insurance policies.”
